1. AKD sizing agent Brief Introduction
Alkyl ketene dimer (AKD) is most common neutral/ alkaline sizing agent. Structurally, it is unsaturated lactones and it is synthesized from fatty acids. Physically it is waxy like milky emulsion chemicals. The waxy solid tiny particles (0.5–2 mm) are dispersed into water and the emulsification are stabilized by the cationic starch or another cationic polyelectrolyte stabilizer.
The reactive lactones rings of AKD can easily goes under chemical reaction. It reacts with the hydroxyl groups of cellulose and forming an ester bond (b-keto esters).
Alkaline sizing agent improves surface conditions of paper. The Neutral/Alkaline Sizing Agent (AKD) also reduces paper machine breakdown and water recycling difficulties compare to Acidic sizing agent.
The function of AKD sizing agent depends on different technological parameters such as ph value of the fiber suspension, raw materials, method of drying, temperature, time etc. AKD is much less reactive than ASA; hence it is more flexible for papermakers during usages. It means that it can be add to the thick or thin stock. However the presence of PCC in the system can lessen the efficiency of the sizing agent.
JH-AKD200 is developed via our years efforts. It is copolymerized by polymer emulsion and kinds of cationic raw materials via special process. It can completely replace the internal sizing agent, reduce the sizing cost greatly, shorten the gelatinization time, increase the paper surface strength and have better water-resistance. It is widely used in the production of cultural paper, corrugated paper of high strength, paper board and etc with wooden pulps, straw pulps, bamboo pulps and waste water pulps.

3. Characteristics
3.1 JH-AKD200 AKD emulsion (alkyl ketene dimmer)/surface sizing agent is a newly developed product based on our former sizing agent. It is characterized by good self-retention, high water resistance and rapid curing process, which enable it to prominently improve sizing effect and other technical indexes of paper.
3.2 JH-AKD200 AKD emulsion /surface sizing agent is applicable for all kinds of paper which require sizing process, such as writing paper, xerographic paper, corrugated paper, liner board, art base paper, photographic paper, napkins, etc.
3.3 It is with high curing speed and low hydrolysist speed.
3.4 JH-AKD200 AKD emulsion /surface sizing agent can provide paper sheet with superior water resistance.
3.5 It will also improve printability of paper sheet, increase retention of fines and fillings, decrease pulp consumption, reduce production cost.
3.6 Wide pH value range (6.5-10) for sizing, calcium carbonate can be used as filling.
3.7The neutral sizing process of JH-AKD200 AKD emulsion /surface sizing agent contributes to decrease corrosion and prolong equipment life.
4. Dosage&Application tip
4.1 Dosage:3kg to 8kg for per mt of paper
4.2 To add JH-AKD200 into gel tanks after the temperature of gelatinizated starch decreased below 65 ℃.The mixer can be used directly in the next sizing process. It can also be added into gel pipes via meter pumps.
5. Package,Storage&Shelf life time:
The package can be 200 Liters or 1000Liters drums. It should be stored inn cold place with temperature between 4 ℃ to 30 ℃.To avoid frozen and sunshine. The shelf lift time is around 6 months.
