Surface sizing is a process in the process of paper or paperboard processing. It is usually located at the end of the drying shaft of the paper machine. When the paper sheet is not completely dried but has a certain strength, a layer of glue is sprayed on the surface of paper and paperboard after subsequent drying to form a layer of adhesive film, so as to achieve the purpose of changing the surface properties of paper or paperboard. From the development of paper industry, surface sizing is one of the indispensable processes. Surface sizing can be added to improve the paper properties or increase the water resistance of paper or paperboard. Originally, due to the technical level and paper grade requirements, the surface sizing agent can only be used on special paper types, such as banknote paper, securities paper, sea paper, etc. With the improvement of the technical level of the paper industry, the paper surface sizing has become a conventional paper processing process, especially in recent years, due to the popularity of printing, copying and fax, the surface properties, strength and water resistance of cultural paper, packaging paper and corrugated paper are put forward higher requirements, so the paper industry is constantly exploring new surface sizing technology.
